Vscode Airtable Formula MCP Server

Airtable builders can edit formulas in VS Code and manage bases through AI assistants with vscode-airtable-formula. Its companion MCP tools handle computed fields, view configuration, record templates, and synchronization between bases.

Overview

Formula maintenance links the editor and MCP workflows: users can export a base's formulas into table-specific folders, validate expressions, and update formula fields while keeping their existing formatting options. The VS Code extension adds completion suggestions and syntax coloring; a separate language server provides diagnostics and hover help in other compatible editors. The MCP component uses Airtable's internal API to complement the official Airtable MCP rather than replace it, covering schema inspection and creation of computed fields such as rollups and lookups.

View inspection lets assistants read existing filters, grouping, sorting, and column arrangements before changing a layout. Other workflows include prefilling reusable record templates, searching resolved record values, managing installed extensions, and synchronizing schema and records between bases through a saved plan. Synchronization planning and application run as background jobs whose progress can be checked. Tool availability can be limited by profile or individual toggles, while field deletion checks the expected name and reports downstream dependencies. Browser-based login stores credentials in the operating system keychain. The community project is unaffiliated with Airtable, and minor releases may introduce breaking changes.
