Overview

Finding people in Clay can start with their role, employer, location, or keywords. The searchContacts and searchInteractions tools cover people and past interactions, while aggregateContacts answers numerical questions with counts or percentages rather than individual records. For a known contact, getContact retrieves email addresses, phone numbers, social links, and notes using the contact ID. This separates looking up someone in a network from measuring the network as a whole.

The writing tools support creating a new contact, attaching a note to a person, and organizing people into groups. Users can list existing groups, create a group, change its title, or add and remove members. When notes are requested, getNotes retrieves them by creation date rather than searching their contents. Event retrieval returns meetings or events for a date range; it is not intended for counting meetings or identifying frequent participants. Clay users can configure access through Smithery or manually in Claude Desktop with a Clay API key.
