Overview

Place discovery in mcp-google-map can start from an address, coordinates, or a text query. Geocoding supplies coordinates for searches, and place details add reviews, contact information, opening hours, and optional photo links. Area exploration groups nearby results by category, while place comparison can include distances from a location. Route planning orders multiple stops through waypoint optimization, and searches along a route rank potential stops by detour time. Static maps display markers and route paths as images in chat.

For local SEO analysis, a grid-based ranking tool checks how a business appears for keywords across nearby coordinates, returning rankings, competitors, and aggregate metrics. Weather, air quality, elevation, and timezone tools add location context; weather coverage excludes some countries. The project provides 18 tools, with MCP access and direct command-line execution that does not need a running server. Its bundled agent skill explains how to combine tools, and configuration can restrict which tools are registered. Place and routing workflows require the relevant Places API (New) and Routes API services to be enabled in Google Cloud.
