Overview
Creating a map starts with generate-mind-map, which takes a root title and a hierarchy of topics. Topics can include reference IDs, notes, labels, markers, and nested children; relationships connect topics within the map. Markers use the Category.name format. The result is saved as a local Xmind file. A tool-level outputPath overrides the default destination set in the server environment, allowing the save location to be chosen for an individual call. Generated files open automatically by default, but that behavior can be disabled.
To work from an existing map, read-mind-map accepts its .xmind file path and exports a Markdown outline in the supported A style. Claude Desktop configuration is documented, and other MCP clients are supported. The server communicates over stdio and requires Node.js 18 or later. Opening and editing the generated maps requires the Xmind desktop application.
