Overview

Spending reviews in lunchmoney-mcp use transaction filters for dates, accounts, categories, and tags. Users can create, update, or delete entries, with separate operations for splitting and grouping transactions. Receipt handling covers attaching local images or PDFs, retrieving temporary download links, and deleting attachments. Category and tag tools organize the same financial records. Ordinary update and deletion operations exclude split or grouped transactions, and deleting transactions is irreversible.

Budget planning combines category spending summaries with account period settings and tools for setting, revising, or removing category budgets. Recurring-item lookups show expected items and matches within a requested date range. Beyond transactions, users can manage manual accounts and manually tracked crypto balances, inspect Plaid accounts, and request refreshed Plaid data. Synced crypto accounts can be read and refreshed, but must be connected through the Lunch Money web app. Monthly balance history supports review and edits for past periods; the current month's calculated entry is not editable. Use requires a Lunch Money account with API access plus Claude Desktop or a compatible MCP client.
