Overview

Portfolio review brings together account balances, buying power, position details, and historical equity and profit-and-loss data. For market research, users can request stock and crypto bars, quotes, trades, and snapshots, plus crypto order books. Options tools locate contracts by expiration, strike, or type and retrieve chains with quotes, implied volatility, and Greeks. Market calendars and corporate-action records provide trading-session schedules and announcements such as splits and dividends.

Trading tools can submit stock and crypto orders, place single-leg or multi-leg options market orders, cancel open orders, and close positions entirely or partially. Held option contracts can also be exercised. Watchlist tools create lists, change their symbols, and delete them; viewing and updating are limited to lists created through Alpaca's Trading API. Paper and live trading are supported, with MCP client credentials taking priority over the server's environment file. Some options strategies may need additional account permissions.
