Overview

With Microsoft Graph providing the connection, teams-mcp lets assistants browse a user's teams, channels, chats, and member profiles. Message retrieval includes channel replies and chat history, while KQL searches can narrow results by sender, mentions, attachments, read status, or dates. A separate lookup retrieves recent messages that mention the authenticated user. Retrieved messages can be presented as Markdown or kept as the original HTML, with attachment metadata available for locating shared content.

For participation, the tools send messages, reply in channel threads, create direct or group chats, and add people to existing group chats by email. They also manage reactions and let senders edit or soft-delete their own messages. File uploads use SharePoint for channels and OneDrive for chats; tools also download images and other hosted attachments from messages. Authentication supports a device-code flow or an existing Graph token. A read-only mode requests reduced permissions and disables write operations.
