Overview

Contract and business document workflows can use safe-docx to move from inspection to targeted Word edits. An agent can read document content, search paragraphs with regex, consult a heading outline, and replace text by paragraph identifier. Paragraph insertion and layout controls cover structural and spacing adjustments, with formatting preservation as a design goal. For grouped changes, batch_edit validates planned steps and rejects conflicts before executing them. DOCX replacements and insertions create native tracked changes, and save can produce clean and tracked copies for human review.

Reviewers can work with anchored comments, threaded DOCX replies, and footnotes alongside the text. compare_documents builds a tracked comparison from separate documents or session edits against the original. extract_revisions exposes paragraph-level before-and-after text, revision details, and comments as structured JSON. Acceptance and rejection tools can target revisions by ID or author; these session changes need a subsequent save. DOCX exports to Markdown, semantic HTML, and plain text are intentionally lossy rather than round-trip formats. The project focuses on modifying existing files, not creating documents from scratch.
