Overview

Contract inspection in onchain-mcp combines state reads with access to contract interfaces and verified source code. Through the Bankless API, MCP-compatible AI models can use read_contract with a network, contract address, method, and typed inputs and outputs. get_proxy identifies the implementation behind a proxy, while get_abi and get_source supply the interface and source for examining a contract. Event analysis connects build_event_topic, which derives a topic hash from an event name and argument types, with get_events for logs filtered by addresses and topics.

Address activity can be explored through get_transaction_history_for_user, with an optional contract filter, and get_token_balances_on_network for balances on a chosen network. get_transaction_info adds details such as gas information, status, and receipt data for an individual transaction. For block-level queries, get_block_info accepts either a block number or a hash. The server runs on Node and uses stdio for communication with MCP clients. Setup requires a Bankless API token. The README states that the project no longer receives updates.

onchain-mcp setup notes

  • onchain-mcp records stdio only; confirm a network transport upstream before planning remote access.
  • onchain-mcp has no recorded license; confirm reuse terms in its repository.
