Rhinomcp MCP Server

Rhino and Grasshopper users can build geometry and edit parametric definitions through AI assistants with RhinoMCP. Its MCP tools cover model inspection, object changes, measurements, viewport images, and scripting.

Overview

Within Rhino, RhinoMCP gives an assistant access to document summaries, filtered object queries, and viewport images alongside geometry creation and editing. Curves can become lofted, extruded, or swept surfaces, while boolean tools combine solids, subtract shapes, or retain overlapping volumes. Analysis tools report validity and measurements; section profiles measure cuts without adding geometry to the document. Layers and object metadata can also be updated. For tasks handled through code, the integration offers RhinoScript-Python execution, RhinoCommon C# execution, and RhinoScript documentation lookup.

For Grasshopper, an assistant can search installed components, inspect their ports, place and wire them, and adjust parameter values. Batched graph operations can construct definitions or revise existing connections and components. The assistant can read output data, run solutions, inspect warnings and errors, and capture live previews without baking. The project targets Rhino 8 on Windows and macOS, using a Python MCP server and a Rhino plugin connected over local TCP. That link lacks authentication, and command or script execution runs inside Rhino; exposure beyond loopback requires added authentication.
