Overview

Working through a configured Discord bot, mcp-discord lets an assistant inspect server details, find messages, and participate in channel conversations. Message tools cover reading history, sending new messages, editing messages authored by the bot, deleting messages, and adding or removing reactions. Forum workflows include finding forum channels, retrieving posts with their messages, replying to discussions, and creating or deleting posts. Additional forum actions list active or archived threads, replace available tags, and change post titles, archive status, or locking.

For server organization, the project provides tools to create text, voice, and forum channels, maintain categories, and adjust channel permission overrides. Role operations include creation, editing, assignment, and removal, while member tools expose membership lists and individual details. Webhook tools handle creation, updates, deletion, and message delivery. Claude and Cursor configuration examples use stdio, and the README also describes a self-hosted streamable HTTP option. Access depends on the bot's permissions and is restricted to Discord servers where that bot has been added.

mcp-discord setup notes

  • mcp-discord records stdio only; confirm a network transport upstream before planning remote access.
