Reddit Buddy MCP Server

Subreddit browsing in Claude Desktop uses browse_subreddit to retrieve posts ordered by hot, new, top, rising, or controversial. search_reddit finds posts across Reddit or within a selected community, while get_post_details retrieves post content and comments from a URL or post ID. Providing the subreddit with an ID avoids an additional lookup to identify the community. user_analysis adds profile context through posting history, karma, comments, and activity statistics. For unfamiliar language, reddit_explain supplies definitions, origins, usage, and examples of Reddit terminology and culture.

Anonymous access needs no API keys, but subreddit listings in that mode come from Reddit's public RSS feed. A data_source field identifies whether results came from RSS or the API. With credentials, API listings include score, num_comments, and upvote_ratio; RSS listings leave those values and nsfw null. Missing engagement fields therefore do not support popularity comparisons. App-only and authenticated modes are also available, and the project includes caching and automatic rate limiting. The tools connect through stdio for use in Claude Desktop.
