Overview

Current-information queries and Python-assisted questions have distinct tools in compound-mcp-server. With ask_with_realtime_information, an MCP client can ask a Groq model about topics such as news or current events. The ask_with_code_execution tool handles questions suited to Python REPL interaction, including intermediate calculations and code execution. The integration covers Groq models, including compound/meta models, and is intended to be launched from a client such as Claude Desktop or a custom MCP client.

Client-launched operation uses stdio. Setup calls for Node.js 18.0.0 or newer and a Groq API key supplied through GROQ_API_KEY. A separate deployment workflow targets Vercel: connect the Git repository, set the API key in the project settings, and use the documented Next.js build configuration. A Redis connection URL is recommended for SSE transport in that deployment, rather than listed as a general requirement. Vercel hosting exposes MCP endpoints, including an SSE endpoint, and the documentation also covers local development with the Vercel CLI. The project is MIT-licensed.

compound-mcp-server setup notes

  • compound-mcp-server records stdio only; confirm a network transport upstream before planning remote access.
