Overview

Testing a website with WebDriverIO MCP can start with a new browser session or an attachment to an existing Chrome window. Assistants can navigate pages, inspect element selectors and accessibility information, fill inputs, manage cookies, and capture screenshots. Tab and iframe controls let interactions target the relevant browser context. Device presets adjust browser dimensions, pixel density, user agent, and touch behavior for responsive checks; this emulation requires a BiDi-enabled session. Web extensions can also be installed and opened for inspection through BiDi.

For mobile workflows, Appium connects the tools to iOS and Android apps. Testers can tap, swipe, drag elements, change orientation, dismiss the keyboard, and check whether an app is running or in the background. Hybrid app testing uses context switching between native interfaces and embedded webviews. The tools also list uploaded apps and upload local app packages to supported cloud providers. Only 1 session is active at a time, and existing remote WebDriver or Appium sessions can be attached by ID. Detaching lets a remote session remain running instead of terminating it.
