Before you start: FreeCAD in Claude Code

• The FreeCADMCP addon installed in the appropriate addon directory

Restart FreeCAD after installing the addon, choose the MCP Addon workbench, and start its RPC server. --only-text-feedback disables visual feedback. Remote RPC access requires explicit enablement and allowed IPs.

Troubleshooting FreeCAD in Claude Code

• If FreeCAD MCP fails to start, check uvx freecad-mcp (from uv, for Python tools), the working directory, and Claude Code's selected scope; inspect claude mcp list and /mcp.
• FreeCAD MCP uses stdio here: Claude Code must keep the configured process running; protocol output belongs on stdout and diagnostics on stderr.
• Known limitation: Requires a FreeCAD addon plus a running RPC server.
• Known limitation: The Python execution tool can run arbitrary code inside FreeCAD.
• Known limitation: Remote access requires explicit IP allowlisting and RPC configuration.
