Troubleshooting Browserbase in Claude Code
- If Browserbase MCP Server fails to start, check npx @browserbasehq/mcp (Node.js/npm), the working directory, and Claude Code's selected scope; inspect claude mcp list and /mcp.
- Browserbase MCP Server: check BROWSERBASE_API_KEY, BROWSERBASE_PROJECT_ID, GEMINI_API_KEY; keep credentials out of shared .mcp.json.
- Browserbase MCP Server uses stdio here: Claude Code must keep the configured process running; protocol output belongs on stdout and diagnostics on stderr.
- Known limitation: Self-hosted setup requires Browserbase credentials and model authentication.
- Known limitation: Custom models require a separate provider key.
- Known limitation: Verified Identity is restricted to Scale plan users.
- General Claude Code troubleshooting lives in the /clients/claude-code guide.
